Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Renovations

The renovation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, located on the shore of Lake Silver, was designed to improve the existing interpretive features for Dr. King and the facilities of the 2.3-acre park. The project featured a new monument sign, interpretive panels, “quote spots” throughout the park, ADA accessibility, and a new restroom/concessions building with an overlook deck for observing and judging water ski tournaments. (The park is also home to the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team, and in 2022, the new building and landscaped grounds hosted the World Water Ski Show Tournament). The project steering committee, which included area residents and pastors, led the direction of the park’s interpretive elements. As a result, the project expanded upon existing commemorative plaques with featured art/a sculptural element.
