On April 1, 2025, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp christened three shrimp boats as the latest addition to VyStar Ballpark’s $31.5 million renovation. These group party spaces are “docked” just beyond the right-center field wall. Catalyst served as the landscape architect for the project and conceptualized the idea of the shrimp boats during a design charrette with Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and OSPORTS. Drawing upon Jacksonville’s coastal identity, the boats provide fans with a playful, uniquely local way to experience a game, featuring tiered seating, drink rails, and a surrounding deck for socializing. Designed to activate the newly reoriented outfield entrance and enhance the 360-degree ballpark experience, the boats serve both as a visual signature and a strategic fan engagement tool. The project design also ties in with the streetscape and building expansion.
