See the Newly Opened Lake Conine Nature Park in Winter Haven

Over the past several years, key Catalyst staff have worked with the City of Winter Haven to provide master planning, stakeholder and public involvement, and landscape architectural design services for the newly opened Lake Conine Nature Park. On May 13, the City welcomed the community to celebrate the park’s grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located off Lucerne Park Road, the 32-acre site was originally purchased by the City 15 years ago with the vision of creating a stormwater park to benefit Lake Conine and the surrounding neighborhoods. The project’s first phase focused on creating wetland cells designed to naturally filter stormwater runoff before it enters the lake. In partnership with Polk County, the State of Florida, and the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the City moved into phase two in 2022 to bring passive recreational amenities and a spur tail and Chain of Lakes trailhead to the site. Today, visitors can enjoy a nearly mile-long perimeter trail with additional interior loops, a shaded picnic pavilion, a playground, fishing pier and dock, and a kayak launch. The result is a vibrant, functional green space that blends environmental restoration with community recreation.
