Lake Wales’ 1st Street Streetscape & Cycle Track Groundbreaking

February 6, 2026

Catalyst recently joined community members, City staff, and project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the 1st Street Streetscape and Cycle Track—an important next step in the Lake Wales Connected vision. The ceremony highlighted upcoming improvements across First Street, Orange Avenue, Crystal Avenue, and Market Street, including resurfaced roadways, enlarged sidewalks, new street trees, upgraded landscaping, ADA enhancements, and the first segment of a two‑way cycle track designed to strengthen connectivity between the northwest neighborhood and the historic downtown district.

As part of the Lake Wales Connected Plan, Catalyst provided landscape architectural expertise to support a safer, greener, and more pedestrian‑focused streetscape that aligns with the city’s long‑term mobility goals. Construction on First Street begins the week of February 23, 2026, funded through federal grants with no local tax dollars used for this segment. Catalyst is proud to continue contributing to Lake Wales’ transformation and looks forward to seeing the 1st Street corridor evolve into a vibrant, multimodal gateway for the community.
