MTSU Aerospace Campus
Catalyst is providing landscape architecture services for the new MTSU Aerospace Campus. This project will provide the initial phase of work to complete a new immersive and collaborative campus to serve the MTSU Aerospace Department at the Shelbyville Municipal Airport (SYI). Included in this scope of work is approximately 115,000 SF of educational and maintenance space, spread across two major structures on about 16 acres south of the main SYI terminal building.
One structure would be an approximate 27,000-SF maintenance hangar building to serve as the FAA Part 141 Professional Pilot aircraft/Flight School Maintenance space for the MTSU aviation fleet. The other structure would be an approximately 88,000-SF building to serve as the administrative, classroom, hangar, and laboratory building for the department, the FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician program, and related site work. Both buildings will be sited to work with the existing airport, as access to apron space and the runway is critical to the function of this campus.
